| I have now twice seen the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express (also knows as the Orient Express) on my railfanning trips. | |||
Innsbruck, Austria, August 19, 2009On the internet I had seen that the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express would come to Innsbruck late afternoon on August 19, 2009. The same night we had booked a small hotel about 1/2 hour south of Innsbruck, so this was a perfect opportunity to see the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. We arrived in Innsbruck at around 17 and found a parking garage.The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express had a planned arrival at 17:26, but it was about 5 minuttes late. At 17:31 it rolled into Innsbruck Hbf from the south. In Innsbruck the train had a scheduled stop of 20 minutes because it had to change direction, continuing south and west out of Innsbruck on the Arlberg line. The route for the train was Venezia - Brenner - Innsbruck - Buchs - Paris - Calais. Hazebrouk, France, August 23, 2007On August 23, 2007, I was in Hazebrouck to railfan. I meet two french railfans - they told me they waited for the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express - and of course I also had to see this famous train. It was delayed about 1 hour and while we waited we talked about trains and I got a lot of useful information. At 18:38 the Orient-Express showed up, headed by SNCF BB 115023. | |||
