Cajon Sub

This page covers BNSFs Cajon Sub. The Cajon Sub runs from the west end of Barstow to San Bernadino. The major feature of the Cajon Sub is the Cajon Pass, located in the San Bernadino Mountains north-east of Los Angeles. Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles are both located in the Los Angeles area and among the worlds largest container ports - this generates a lot of railroad traffic. Most of this traffic go over Cajon Pass on BNSFs Cajon Sub, including UP trains on trackage rights. Even though the Cajon Sub runs mostly north-south, it is designated east-west (westbound = southbound and eastbound = northbound).
