Enola Yard, HarrisburgOn the westside of the Susquehanna river in Harrisburg lays Norfolk Southerns Enola Yard, on NS ex-PRR Broadway Line. Enola Yard is a classification yard for mixed freights / manifests. Intermodals do not go through Enola, they run on the east side of the Susquehanna river, where there are 2 intermodal yards in the Harrisburg area.Enola has quite a lot of shunting activity with shunters coupled in pairs. It's not unusual to see 2 or 3 trains moving at the same time. Enola Yard is a wellknown railfanning spot - a bridge called Overview Bridge crosses the tracks on the northern end of Enola Yard. The bridge has a fence with holes so that you can enjoy the action. | |||

LeetsdaleLeetsdale is 15 miles north-west of Pittsburgh. Norfolk Southerns Fort Wayne line runs through Leetsdale, and traffic is quite intense because all traffic from and to the west are funneled between the Conway Yard further north, and CP Bell, south of Leetsdale. | |||
