WaterlooWaterloo is on Norfolk Southerns mainline between Chicago and New York. A couple of days before we arrived there had been a derailment somewhere on the line, and we wasn't whether the line had opened again. But after having seen 7 trains in little over an hour there was no doubt that the line was open. | |||

Pine Junction, GaryPine Junction is also on Norfolk Southerns mainline between Chicago and New York. It's close to the Illinois/Indiana border and is part of ChicagoLand. In Pine Junction the NS mainline is paralleled by CSXs Chicago - New York mainline and crossed by the EJE. This means a very intense traffic. | |||
