Teide & Las Caņadas |

| Tenerife has the highest mountain in Spain; the vulcano Teide, 3718 m high. Originally there were one larger vulcano. This vulcano erupted a lot of magma/lava and created en empty "pocket" inside the vulcano. The vulcano collapsed and today Las Caņadas show the remains of the old vulcano as a "wall" surrounding the area. Later the vulcano Teide was made together with another, smaller vulcano, Pico Viejo. |  Roque Cinchado with Teide in the background. Roque Cinchado is 27 m high and the lower part is made of softere rock than the upper part and erosion has given it this special look. (68 kb) |
