On the Atlantic Coast, a little south of Bordeaux is Dune de Pilat. Dhis dune is 118 m high and is the highest dune in Europa. The length is 2700 m, the width 500 m and the volume is 20,000,000 cubicmeter. Beside the size of the dune, an interesting and surpricing fact is that it is relatively young, at least in a geological scale. In 1855 the height was only 35 m, so the dune has grown to its current size in only 150 years or so.
