From Bergen to Sognefjorden

On Sunday we left Bergen, and on the way out of town, we saw the museum "Gamle Bergen" (Old Bergen). "Gamle Bergen" shows how life was many years ago.

After this stop we continued through Voss to Stalheim in the Nærøy valley. From Stalheim there is a magnificent view over the Nærøy valley.

We continued down through the Nærøy valley to the small town Gudvangen where we saw a cruise ship. After Gudvangen we continued through Flåm and Aurland. In Aurland we took the road over the mountain to Lærdalsøyri instead of the new tunnel. View over the Aurland fiord

Borgund stave church (94 kb)
We reached Borgund stave church a little before 8 pm - our guidebook said that the church was open until 8 pm, but it was already closed - but at least we got a picture. Borgund stave church is the most known stave church and on UNESCO's list of buildings to protect. After this disappointment we continued over the Sogne fiord by ferry and after a few kilometer we found a camping site next to the Sogne fiord. Sognefjorden
